Birthday Boy

I rang in my 40th birthday with some close friends at one of my favorite places. I experienced so much love and appreciation, it took my breath away.
It's been two weeks and my 40's have already been amazing, even though a couple of days ago I had a hypoglycemic episode, something that hasn't happened since high school. Now I must reevaluate what I'm taking in, even more. For starters, no more Monsters... My only source of caffeine. Ugh.
Onward and upward.

Water Baby!

As I have stated before, I love Coke and I miss Coke. Nothing can replace it. I know I need more water so I bought myself a Faux-Yeti from Academy's brand, Magellan. Thing works. Keeps my water cold and it's convenient. For $8, it's hard to beat!
This morning I tossed in some cucumbers and lemon to zest it up and to get those added health benefits they provide. So now, ask me if I miss Coke... OF COURSE I DO! You think you can just add some crap to water and think it's gonna take Coke's place! Well, it doesn't, but it helps.

First Week In

Lunch has consisted of a lot of pita bread, three blend coleslaw with Greek vinaigrette base and chicken. A hearty meal that doesn't break the calorie budget. Breakfasts are usually a hard-boiled eggs and five lil' smokies, a combo that holds me over until lunch.
The big thing is cokes! I have found it much harder to quit coke than it was to quit smoking. That was a surprise. Mainly because Coke went with every meal... All three. PLUS, a relic from 2019 stares at me everyday at work when I put my lunch box in the refrigerator in the form of a unfinished bottle.
Sure I could throw it out but it's a constant reminder and temptation for me to fight. Also a sign of how well the refrigerator at work is cleaned by the staff... It's been there since NYE.
My current phone background has been changed to my 2020 goal. The Brazos river. Cannot wait!

Day One

I don't know if I'll always be this in depth but wanted to put out there what my calorie intake is looking like.
Big thing is that today is the first Coke (every soda is Coke in Texas) free day. It's been easier than I expected. Water with every meal. The caffeine is what I miss more than anything else in Coke. Cold brew coffee is a good alternative and has added health benefits so it's a win-win.
Well there it is, folks. Low impact day step and activity wise but it's my first day back at work after New Year and I haven't had Coke. BACK OFF! Sorry... Caffeine, you know.
XOXO

New Year. Newt Meat.

Here it is, folks. This is my starting point. Fat gut, no sucking it in. I gave up and gave in to food for the last of 2019. Figured I'd eat like the year treated me... Crappy. I'm super excited about what 2020 is bringing on. Planning a lot of little trips, good eating and fitness (🤮) for my 40's, which is a mere 18 days away.
I'm ready. I'm stoked. I hope to entertain anyone who stumbles upon this.
Wish me luck!
XOXO.
Legs is excited too.

Feasting

I'm only half way through the holidays and have already noticed some weight gain. Damnit.
Why does food associated with every holiday have to taste so damn good???
I've turned to salads and healthy food choices for most meals inbetween Thanksgiving and Christmas in an attempt to keep some weight off.
I have an appointment for a check-up this week so we'll see where we stand there. Hopeful and enthusiastic to get proffesional advice on where to head, health wise.

Fingers crossed.

Meridian State Park

Legacy and I made our way out to Meridian State Park, west of Hillsboro and located near absolutely nothing major. It was wonderful!
Our hike took us around the entire lake and through the prairie located just north. Beautiful and very quiet a spot we look forward to doing yakpacking practice runs at in the spring.
Meridian Lake is really quite small and perfect for paddling as it is a no wake lake. They have campsites right on the shore which will make for a perfect spot for us.
This was the longest car ride Legs has been on and she handled it like a champ, only getting confused by the length near the end. Of course on the way back, she was all Zzzzzzz's after the 5 mile hike.
On the way back we stopped by the Bottle Rocket Motel for a visit and it was splendid as always.
She looks tired and honestly, so was I. It was a great day but we both need so more conditioning before the big trip next year.
