Meridian State Park

Legacy and I made our way out to Meridian State Park, west of Hillsboro and located near absolutely nothing major. It was wonderful!
Our hike took us around the entire lake and through the prairie located just north. Beautiful and very quiet a spot we look forward to doing yakpacking practice runs at in the spring.
Meridian Lake is really quite small and perfect for paddling as it is a no wake lake. They have campsites right on the shore which will make for a perfect spot for us.
This was the longest car ride Legs has been on and she handled it like a champ, only getting confused by the length near the end. Of course on the way back, she was all Zzzzzzz's after the 5 mile hike.
On the way back we stopped by the Bottle Rocket Motel for a visit and it was splendid as always.
She looks tired and honestly, so was I. It was a great day but we both need so more conditioning before the big trip next year.

Mi Perro Amigo

A little less than a year ago my daughter brought a dog home and named her Legacy (I call her Legs or Lego the majority of the time). Since then Legs has learned to swim and loves the water. Now that the weather is cooling down we're gonna give camping a go before it cools too far down. She's so damn smart, I'm sure she will do great. Legacy is really proving herself to be the perfect companion for my upcoming yakpacking trip.
We hit up the dog park tonight and she learned to fetch within two throws. Next up is teaching her to heal and focus when in public. Initially I wasn't overjoyed about a medium sized puppy, especially since my two Chihuahuas are both about 15 BUT this pup has been amazing. Anyway... You'll see a lot of her on here.

Hi. How are you?

What a difference nine + years makes... When I started blogging about losing weight I was a little over 30 and wanting to not die. As most of life, things came up and life got busier this food choices got shittier and exercise fell by the wayside.
While I never got as fat as I once was, I still did get fat... Shit. I'd fluctuate up and down and hover somewhere around 220/230. I was smoking, eating trash and lazying my ass off whenever I wasn't working.
Here we are now and I am on the brink of 40. I've quit smoking and aim to get my health in check for good. I'm writing this having not smoked for about 45 days and kicking off not drinking Cokes (all sodas, I'm Texan) this very morning. The think is that no matter how much I've changed my habits, Coke has always been the one I held onto. I know the benefits will be obvious both in my waist and wallet pretty quickly but I LOVE COKE!
My goal is to tear into my 40's heathy and happy. Planning a big kayak/camping trip for the late summer/early fall of 2020 and spending the year planning for it. I have a check-up with my doctor on Dec 13th to see where I'm starting at and where I need to focus so this no Coke/smoke stuff should be a good start.
I look forward to the adventure!
